Long game is a mobile app game and fintech venture acquired by Truist Bank. The purpose of the game is to teach Millennials and Gen Z about financial literacy including topics on credit cards, loans, and investing. According to the developers, Long Game is “Rooted in behavioral economics and gamification, app provides a chance to earn monetary rewards to boost savings.” In other words, it aims to teach young people about personal finance in game form. But is that what It actually does?
How to Get Started
To get started, download the app on iOS and Android. Then create or log into your Truist account (I recommend checking out a checking account bonus offer like those presented here).
Upon successful login, you will receive 1 million coins. You’ll be prompted to start and name your savings goal, optionally create a date to “meet” this goal.
From there, you can play trivia to earn coins, play the Omega millions, or other various mini games.

My Opinion
After a week of play, I’m giving Long Game 4 stars out of 5. The design is gorgeous, the games are fun, and I’ve never been more motivated to save money. However, the app lacks in its ability to financially prepare the user AKA it’s main goal.
The closest you get to financial literacy is trivia once per day. Long Game merely tests you about financial literacy not teaching you. To aid this area, I would suggest some finance focused games that help you answer the trivia.
Lastly, I would love if all Truist accounts earned interest. So, while I’m playing with my Truist One account in hopes of making money, I’m losing out on guaranteed income.
Aside from these main issues, the game is pretty fun and definitely addicting. I’ve never been so excited to save money and I’m quintuple-y (5x) excited to get paid because it boosts the coins I earn by 5 times.
